Send the invoice before you have left the driveway

Build it from the services already on your list, email it as a PDF the customer can print, and let them pay it online. When the money lands, the invoice marks itself paid.

Most small businesses invoice in a separate program, or in a spreadsheet, or on a pad in the van. That is a second place to keep customer details up to date and a second thing to reconcile at the end of the month.

What it actually does

The prices are already in here

Pick a service and the description and price fill themselves in. Type your own lines for anything that is not on the list — parts, a call-out, an hour of labour.

Paid online, marked paid on its own

The emailed invoice carries a Pay now button. The money goes straight into your own Stripe account — we never hold it — and the invoice updates itself without you going back in.

Cash and bank transfers too

Mark an invoice paid by cash, card machine, cheque or transfer in two taps, so what you are owed is right whether or not they paid online.

A PDF that looks like yours

Your logo, your address, your VAT number, your own numbering sequence. Download it to print or send it by email — the same document either way.

Against the customer you already have

Invoice somebody from your existing customer list and it sits on their record with their bookings. You are not keeping two address books.

You can see what is outstanding

Drafts, sent, overdue and paid, at a glance. Chasing money is bad enough without first working out who owes it.

Who this is for

Anybody who does work first and gets paid afterwards.

A garage that has to invoice a fleet account. A tradesperson who quotes on the day and bills at the end of the week. A clinic invoicing an insurer. A tutor billing a parent monthly. If your money always arrives at the point of booking, you probably do not need this — deposits and online payment are already part of the plan.

Where the money goes

Into your own Stripe account, directly. We are not a payment processor and we never hold your takings — the card details go to Stripe, the money goes to you, and we are told the invoice is paid so we can update it.

That also means the payment fee is Stripe's, at whatever rate you have agreed with them. We do not add anything on top.

Numbering, VAT and the boring parts

Set your numbering once — a prefix and a starting number — and every invoice follows it in order, with no gaps. Set your VAT number and rate and it is applied and shown properly. Set your payment terms and the due date is worked out for you.

None of this needs revisiting. It is a ten-minute job on the first day and then it is done.

What happens if you stop paying for it

You stop being able to raise new invoices. Every invoice you have already raised stays exactly where it is, viewable and downloadable, and anything a customer has already paid stays paid. Your accounts do not disappear because a subscription lapsed.

Questions people ask

Only if you want customers to pay online. Without one you can still raise, send and print invoices and mark them paid by hand.

No. It goes straight into your own Stripe account. We are told the invoice has been paid so it can update itself, and that is all.

Yes. Add them as a customer while you are creating the invoice — you do not need a booking first.

It carries your VAT number, the rate, the net and the VAT as separate lines, and your business address. Whether it satisfies your own accountant is worth ten minutes of their time before you rely on it.

A draft can be changed freely. Once it has gone out it is fixed, because an invoice that quietly changed after the customer received it is worth nothing to either of you.
