What it actually fixes
No-shows on a full day
A deposit is taken when the booking is made, so an empty chair costs the client rather than the artist.
Consent forms in a drawer
Signed at booking, stored against the appointment, with the wording they agreed to kept exactly as it was.
Booking the wrong artist
Each artist lists their own work. If they do not do it, it is not offered under their name.
Messages at midnight
The page takes the booking. You reply when the studio is open.
The deposit, taken when they book
Set the deposit per service — a flat amount or a percentage — and it is taken at the moment of booking, into your own Stripe account. No holding a slot on a promise, no chasing somebody for a bank transfer, no diary full of appointments that might happen.
Consent and age, on the record
Studios have to evidence consent and age, and a form in a drawer is not evidence anybody enjoys looking for. Build the questions once, attach them to the service, and the client answers before they arrive — with a signature and a date against the wording they actually agreed to.
Anything you flag as needing attention is shown in red on the appointment, so the artist reads it before the needle comes out.
An artist is not interchangeable
Clients come for a person and a style, not for a studio. Each artist has their own diary, their own days, their own services and their own prices, and a client books the artist by name.
There is no per-artist charge. Six artists cost what one costs.
Long sittings, and the ones that need two
A sleeve is not one appointment. Book a sitting, then the next, and both hold their place in the diary. Preparation and clean-down are held either side without being shown to the client, so the studio is never turning a station around while somebody waits.
Aftercare, sent automatically
The confirmation and reminder emails go out on their own, and you decide what they say. Aftercare instructions arriving the evening of a sitting are worth more than a leaflet nobody kept.

Tattoo and piercing studios often ask
Yes. Deposits are set per service, as a fixed amount or a percentage, so a full day can ask for £100 and a piercing for nothing.
That is your policy, not ours. The money is in your Stripe account, so you refund it, keep it or carry it over exactly as your terms say — and your booking policy is shown and accepted before the booking completes.
You can require a form at booking that asks for date of birth and records the answer against the appointment. It is not a substitute for checking identification in the studio, but it means nobody arrives having never been asked.
Yes. Block time for one artist or close the whole studio for a date range, and nothing can be booked into it.
